The Basics

We are looking for an Agile Coach (m/f/d), who will become our third Area Facilitator.

Giant Swarm is a fast-growing open-source infrastructure management platform used by modern enterprises. Our vision is to empower developers around the world to ship great products.

Our leadership concept in short can best be described as lateral. We foster self-organization and self-responsibility. We work agile, in our own opinionated organizational structure. We are a 100% transparent company (unless people need protection) and treat people as adults. More, read in this Blog Post about Leadership elements.

In every of our current 11 teams, we have one part-time TFs (Team Facilitators) who ‘takes care' of people and routines in the team. 

Our Area Facilitators support these people as full-timers company-wide. 

As we are growing, we are searching for a third Area Facilitator, who brings agile coaching and facilitation skills to the table and gives new impulses. 

Your Job
  • You are part of Chapter AREA FT and support the FTs in their day-to-day role. You’ll work closely together with the people-team and the Glue Persons (a role that supports teams on what we are doing).

  • You run company-wide change initiatives (like moving to a 32 hrs week, which is currently WIP). 

  • You design and facilitate meetings and workshops if needed (push & pull approach) 

  • You are open to new-work approaches. You bring in ideas, communicate with all stakeholders, and take care that the changes are implemented.

  • You translate best practices from the agile space into practices and routines for our non-technical teams like sales and marketing, thereby also fostering an understanding of one another.

  • You have at least 5 years of work experience as an Agile Coach and (regardless the company structure you worked in) 3 years of experience with leadership elements.

  • You have a proven track record of facilitation in a tech company.

  • You have a hands-on approach; execution motivates you more than consulting. 

  • You love to work in a 100% remote, international and transparent environment and you are not (!) motivated by having power over people.

  • We are quite experienced in organizational development. We have successfully run many change initiatives (like people choosing their own salary; a three-column development model, including a systemic coaching approach; sometimes we kill all teams and form new ones to get a specific task done ). 

  • We are motivated by bringing ‘new-work’ buzzwords to life. We do not stop after nice slides, we implement. We iterate or design from scratch.

  • Our Area FT Chapter is cross-functional in itself (Engineering, People, Agile Coaching) but is also embedded in the cross-functional people team - so the mission ‘create an organization where people can work best’ is never lost.

About us

Every new team member changes the team. We love to learn from each other and we are looking for people who know things we don’t. 

  • Becoming part of Giant Swarm means that, by extension, you also become part of the Cloud Native community. We actively contribute to upstream projects and our quarterly hackathons will give you space to work on out-of-the-box projects. Occasionally, when we, as a team, want to fully focus on one project, we scratch all meetings and routines for a certain time to better focus during our hive-sprints.

  • Continuous learning is important to us - we foster this through bi-yearly personal development talks, a budget for training/certifications/coaching as well as regular feedback talks and workshops. Our teams are cross- functional and collaboration is key. 

  • Nothing crazy, but useful Basics: We don't count holidays but set a minimum number; You choose your own hard- and software; As a company that has almost, if not more, kids than employees, family-friendliness is crucial to us and paid parental leave is a no-brainer; We pay monthly perks that cover your costs for working remotely; We meet twice a year as an entire company and (if possible) see conferences as an important place to catch up with team members; We aim to be fully transparent (finance, salaries) unless it hurts people and trust you, based on this to make the best decisions

We failed in exactly describing our way to approach important company elements that can be described with ‘buzzwords’ such as agile mindset, cross-functional teams, self-organization, value of the individual or trust & teamwork. However, we truly care about them, we live them and we constantly iterate on them. Some snippets about how we do this are posted in our blog but by far not all of them.
